My parents moved to East Las Vegas ten years ago searching for a better life. My dad has worked as a busser and cook in restaurants around Las Vegas including The Strip, and my mom is a proud member of her AFSCME union local, serving Nevada's veterans as a certified nursing assistant. When I think about achieving the American Dream I think about my parents, both immigrants from Mexico, who built a life and family here from the ground up.
I'm running because the American Dream my parents built in Las Vegas is becoming harder to achieve for Eastside working families like mine. Small businesses, the foundation of our immigrant community, are hurting. Young adults like me are watching the dream of homeownership and starting a family in Las Vegas slip further away. Our kids fear for their lives walking to school everyday. Meanwhile, Eastside working families are being ignored by our politicians. IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE.
